tuberculosis itself is the scientific name Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs. But, TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal. TB is spread through the air from one person to another. The bacteria are put into the air when a person with active TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs or sneezes. People nearby may breathe in these bacteria and become infected. However, not everyone infected with TB bacteria becomes sick. People who are not sick have what is called latent TB infection. People who have latent TB infection do not feel sick, do not have any symptoms, and cannot spread TB to others. But, some people with latent TB infection go on to get TB disease. TB is spread through the air from one person to another. The bacteria are put into the air when a person with active TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs or sneezes. People nearby may breathe in these bacteria and become infected. When a person breathes in TB bacteria, the bacteria can settle in the lungs and begin to grow. From there, they can move through the blood to other parts of the body, such as the kidney, spine, and brain. TB in the lungs or throat can be infectious. This means that the bacteria can be spread to other people. TB in other parts of the body, such as the kidney or spine, is usually not infectious. People with active TB disease are most likely to spread it to people they spend time with every day. This includes family members, friends, and coworkers. Many people who have latent TB infection never develop active TB disease. In these people, the TB bacteria remain inactive for a lifetime without causing disease. But in other people, especially people who have weak immune systems, the bacteria become active and cause TB disease

I'm aware that it can if you did not take ALL the medicine you were prescribed the first time. When a person quits taking antibiotics prematurely, there is then the possibility that some of the bacteria remain .....and those become drug-resistant. With antibiotics it is very important to take all the medicine, for all the days the doctor has ordered, even after you think you are cured

Does tuberculosis ever go away

Does tuberculosis ever go away?
Well I was diagnosed and treated for Tuberculosis about 8-9 years ago ( when I was in the 5th grade). The doctor took me off the medication about 5-9 months after I got TB. After you get treated for tuberculosis do you still have it? And what are the after affects of it?

1 :
Yes. Tuberculosis is caused by a bacteria. Antibiotics kill the bacteria and you get healed. Only things that can not be killed are viruses which either go away by themselves or continue to stay there for a life time.
2 :
The bacteria goes away, but Tuberculosis change alveoles in pulmos so the answer is Yes and No. Sry if in english it's not said like that, but I said it on latin
3 :
yes it can be cured completely . if u were given drugs for its whole course of 5-9 months. mycobacterium tuberculosis causes chronic inflammtion of the tissue making tuberculoma,by affecting body defense system... once u started treating it,the bacteria disappear from ur body withing two months, but u still need to carry on with ur medication,as if u left with medication in middle ,there may b chance of resistancy against the drugs.. so be regular in taking its drugs.sometime re infection occurs ,but that can b treated easily as before.. all the best

Crime? Didn't the early (illegal immigrants) American settlers bring that? Land theft, rape, murder, kidnapping and forced labor? TB, Meningitis also. Along with Smallpox. Columbus and his boys bought Syphilis. Probably the only thing they shared. The Mayflower idiots came over with the same crap as above. The American Indians weren't too thrilled about English either. As far as a refusal to learn English, quite a few Americans have a problem with that also. President Bush couldn't form a coherent sentence without a Cheney or Rove claw up his butt. Some Tennessee "Farmer John" type gave me driving directions the other day and I'll be damned if I couldn't understand what the hell he said. His English was that poor. He sure as hell wasn't an immigrant. Low wage Democrats? LMAO!! I was making 5.50 an hour in 1977 Manhattan now the magic number is $10 thirty two years later. What were Bush, Reagan and Bush contributions

Geemelvi, Bearing in mind that you have not stated that TB has been diagnosed in this case; and also, that coughing up blood in sputum may be caused by factors other than TB - I shall discuss TB, as that is part of your question. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by bacteria whose scientific name is Mycobacterium tuberculosis. When the inhaled tuberculosis bacteria enter the lungs, they can multiply and cause a local lung infection. The local lymph nodes associated with the lungs may also become involved with the infection and usually become enlarged. The hilar lymph nodes - the lymph nodes adjacent to the heart in the central part of the chest - are often involved. In addition, TB can spread to other parts of the body. The body's immune (defense) system, however, can fight off the infection and stop the bacteria from spreading. The immune system does so ultimately by forming scar tissue around the TB bacteria and isolating it from the rest of the body. The usual symptoms that occur with an active TB infection are a generalized tiredness or weakness, weight loss, fever, and night sweats. If the infection in the lung worsens, then further symptoms can include coughing, chest pain, coughing up of sputum, which may or may not contain blood, and shortness of breath. If the infection spreads beyond the lungs, the symptoms will depend upon the organs involved. So much for a brief introduction, now to reply to your question on longevity – TB disease can almost always be cured with medicine. But the medicine must be taken as the doctor has prescribed. TB is the world's leading cause of death from a single infectious organism, killing 2 million people each year. The TB crisis has intensified because multidrug-resistant (MDR) microbes have emerged. An incurable form of the disease may develop from infections caused by these organisms. WHO [World Health Organisation] estimates more than 50 million people worldwide may be infected with MDR strains of TB. ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED, IN ANY FORUM AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS ONE. - MANY ANSWERS ARE FLAWED. The information provided here should not be used during any medical emergency or for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. A licensed physician should be consulted for diagnosis and treatment of any and all medical conditions. Yes it is, and when he's vomiting the blood the spray may get on you and your boyfriend, it is a highly contagious disease!!!, You and your boyfriend can get the sickness. Get him to a hospital! They can care for him better there.
3 :
Your boyfriend's grandfather needs to see a doctor and find out what's wrong. Vomiting blood can be a symptom of a number of conditions, including several forms of cancer. http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/vomiting_blood.htm

I have found some information for you. There are links to 2 sites at the bottom if you would like to read more. I have found that TB is not found in the soil or water. It is an airbourne disease transferred from person to person. There are many examples of groups who are at high risk for tuberculosis listed below. I hope this information helps you! What is TB? TB is an infection caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis that spreads through the air from a person with active TB infection usually in their lungs. When infected, the bacteria commonly cause disease in the lungs but can also cause disease in many other parts of the body. The bacteria can cause two types of illness, an active form (active TB disease) and a latent form (latent TB Anyone can get tuberculosis, but certain factors increase your risk of the disease. These factors include: Lowered immunity. A healthy immune system can often successfully fight TB bacteria, but your body can't mount an effective defense if your resistance is low. A number of factors can weaken your immune system. Having a disease that suppresses immunity, such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes, end-stage kidney disease, certain cancers or the lung disease silicosis, can reduce your body's ability to protect itself. Your risk is also higher if you take corticosteroids, certain arthritis medications, chemotherapy drugs or other drugs that suppress the immune system. Close contact with someone with infectious TB. In general, you must spend an extended period of time with someone with untreated, active TB to become infected yourself. You're more likely to catch the disease from a family member, roommate, friend or close co-worker. Country of origin. People from regions with high rates of TB — especially sub-Saharan Africa, India, China, the islands of Southeast Asia and Micronesia, and parts of the former Soviet Union — are more likely to develop TB. In the United States, more than half the people with TB were born in a different country. Among these, the most common countries of origin were Mexico, the Philippines, India and Vietnam. Age. Older adults are at greater risk of TB because normal aging or illness may weaken their immune systems. They're also more likely to live in nursing homes, where outbreaks of TB can occur. Substance abuse. Long-term drug or alcohol use weakens your immune system and makes you more vulnerable to TB. Malnutrition . A poor diet or one too low in calories puts you at greater risk of TB. Lack of medical care. If you are on a low or fixed income, live in a remote area, have recently immigrated to the United States or are homeless, you may lack access to the medical care needed to diagnose and treat TB. Living or working in a residential care facility. People who live or work in prisons, immigration centers or nursing homes are all at risk of TB. That's because the risk of the disease is higher anywhere there is overcrowding and poor ventilation. Living in a refugee camp or shelter. Weakened by poor nutrition and ill health and living in crowded, unsanitary conditions, refugees are at especially high risk of TB infection. Health care work. Regular contact with people who are ill increases your chances of exposure to TB bacteria. Wearing a mask and frequent hand washing greatly reduce your risk. International travel. As people migrate and travel widely, they may expose others or be exposed to TB bacteria. nfection). TB is a slow-growing bacteria that when spreading causes symptoms over a long period of time (weeks to months). How is TB diagnosed? Individuals suspected of having TB or are at-risk of getting TB usually get a TB skin test (called PPD) or a chest x-ray. For individuals with a positive TB skin test, your doctor may also try and get some phlegm to look for and grow TB in the laboratory
