my grandama has a Mycobacterium other than tuberculosis but we the hospitals in the philippines cannot determine its kind. In America specifically California they can determine the kinds. Is it possible to bring the sputum of my grandma from the Philippines to CAlifornia to test it? Hope someone can help us! Thank You very much!

I don`t think that you would not be allowed through customs with a sample of your Grandma's sputum!!!! Although your intentions may be genuine, it is a biological specimen that can potentially contain harrmful agents You could ask the laboratory that did the testing to refer the organism or sample to a reference laboratory for identification and susceptibility testing if necessary. Sometimes atypical Mycobacterium species are not considered pathogenic. Does she have symptoms
