Well TB is an airborne disease. If he had it the hospital would put him in isolation. Most people dont have a problem with this because they do not want to make other people sick. It sounds like it wasn't explained to him?

YES....TB is considered an extremely contagious disease and the CDC has the authority to "compel confinement" of anyone DIAGNOSED with TB as a risk to public health. However, if there is not a positive diagnosis, then there can be no compelled confinement.

Yes, if a person is hospitalized for TB they are put into a negative pressure room. This is a room that is completely vented to the ouside and the air in the room is unable to get to the other patients in the hospital. Caregivers are gowned, gloved and wear mask to inhibit transmission. All waste are put in special bags that are disposed of in a manner different then regular trash. When they go for test there are precautions that must be taken. I think that the CDC can demand that he be confined until he has been treated. He would be considered a danger to others. I have never seen someone like this want to leave and refuse care.
