i just had to go get one for my job today. they used a needle, and on the underside of my forearm. kinda stings, but not that bad. and afterwards it left this weird looking bump. but thats probably because the nurse didnt know what she was doing. anyway,.... hope this helps

An injection on the arm. Then after a few days, that site is check to see if you have had a positive or negative reaction. It is a very easy test. Nothing to worry about. Just a little poke. Doesn't hurt at all.

If you are getting a test to see if you are positive for TB it will be a skin test on the under part of the forearm. To COLBY M.. the test is suppose to leave a (BUMP) or a wheel like that.. it has nothing todo with the nurse not know what she is doing. If you are already + or you have tested + for TB in the pass you will have to have a Chest X-ray

A PPD test is one method used for detecting tuberculosis. The protein derivative is injected underneath the top layer of skin on the inner forearm. In 3-5 days, it should be checked by a healthcare provider to see if there was any swelling at the injection site. If there is a raised bump, it is measured (in millimeters). Depending on the size of the bump, you may or may not be positive for tuberculosis. There are certain cutoffs for the measurements depending on your preexisting medical conditions and past medical history, so a bump does not necessarily mean that you have tuberculosis
