A positive skin test means that you have been exposed to tuberculosis in the past. If you have a negative chest x-ray then you do not have TB.

A positive TB test shows you have been infected with TB. The purpose of the chest x-ray is to make sure you do not have active TB, which would be contagious. If it is negative, you have latent TB infection, or LTBI. While this is not contagious, it can develop into active TB if left untreated
