how can you differentiate COPD from tuberculosis by looking at their x-ray results?

COPD usually shows up on chest x-ray as hyperinfalted lungs (more black on the film). Depending on the severity, the diaphragms may look flattened and the front to back diameter may enlarge ( barrel chest). TB will usually show up as a granuloma (white fluffy ball) on the film) and is often seen in the apex (top of the lung field). Just because a patient has COPD does not mean they have a lung tumor, nor does it mean they have TB. Likewise, a person can have a granuloma and it it is not TB or is not active. Either way, a person can have one, both or neither.
