If your girlfriend has been diagnosed with tuberculosis she will have been placed on an intensive 6 month treatment programme of several antibiotics. You need to make sure she takes all of her tablets properly and for the full length of time. You and those in close contact with her are at high risk of catching TB from her. If you havent been vaccinated you'll need to be put on prophylactic antibiotics as well and arrange for the TB vaccination.

Has she been diagnosed by a doctor? if so, check with your health professional on ways to protect yourself from TB. You need to know if it is active or not and work from there.

Transmission can only occur from people with active—not latent—TB. The probability of transmission from one person to another depends upon the number of infectious droplets expelled by a carrier, the effectiveness of ventilation, the duration of exposure, and the virulence of the M. tuberculosis strain. The chain of transmission can therefore be broken by isolating patients with active disease and starting effective anti-tuberculous therapy. After two weeks of such treatment, people with non-resistant active TB generally cease to be contagious. Do perform HANDWASHING all the time ..

Well let's start by really getting to know what tuberculosis is....and what cause's people to get it..Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by a germ called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but they can also damage other parts of the body. TB spreads through the air when a person with TB of the lungs or throat coughs, sneezes or talks. If you have been exposed, you should go to your doctor for tests. You are more likely to get TB if you have a weak immune system. Now what should you do whats the other part of the ?. But I think you already know...Obviously you two are still together so continue to love her & HAVE PATIENCE with her...while she may have some of these symptoms just know it isn't her, its her body trying to fight of tuberculosis A bad cough that lasts 3 weeks or longer Weight loss Coughing up blood or mucus Weakness or fatigue Fever and chills Night sweats THIS IS SERIOUS...TUBERCULOSIS If not treated properlycan be deadly. You can usually cure active TB by taking several medicines for a long period of time. People with latent TB can take medicine so that they do not develop active TB
